Split young people into teams and see if they can guess which TV programmes these theme tunes are from.
The Apprentice – Characteristics
Watch the video with the group and ask them what qualities they think you would need to succeed as Alan Sugar’s apprentice? Have the group draw an outline of a person on a sheet of flipchart paper which they then draw/write their answers on.
Ask the group how they think they would do on The Apprentice.
Activity – New Brand of Cornflakes
Divide the participants into two groups and get them to appoint a team leader. Challenge them to invent a brand new brand of cornflakes. They have to come up with a box design, a brand name, and an advertising campaign.
Have the leaders and volunteers determine who the winner is and offer lots of positive feedback.
What Does Jesus look for in his disciples?
Have the young people look at each of these Bible passages and summarise what it says.
Matthew 4:18-22 Jesus calls ordinary people
Mark 3: 13-14 The disciples accompanied Jesus wherever he went and did what he did.
Matthew 10: 2-4 Diversity – the disciples all came from a range of different backgrounds
John 14: 12-13 Jesus had faith in the disciples and believed they could do what he did
Jesus invites us to be his disciples too. He believes we can do what he did. What does he want our lives to be like?
Galatians 5: 22-23 Life marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Disciples – Characteristics
Like the earlier activity have the young people draw the outline of a person and have them write and draw the characteristics of a follower/disciple.
